Self-piercing rivet (SPR) joints are achieved by pressing a self-piercing rivet using a specialty tool (SPR gun) to fasten two or more sheets of material through the metals to be joined. This is done with the use of a die. The lower sheet is attached to the upper sheet without piercing through it. Each manufacturer has a die that matches their OEM requirements and visual similarity.
